If you recall, our grandparents always told us to leave the porch light on at night because they believed it kept the thieves away. That was their prevention strategy and I can attest that it worked for my grandmother and the house hold. Our next door neighbors were always robbed because their porch light stayed off. The family believed that keeping their porch lights off saved them money. However, it cost them a lot of broken windows and door repairs, not including the items stolen that had to be replaced.
